Read to Husker the Dog

You have two opportunities to read to a lovely therapy dog:

Saturday, July 1st
11a.m. -11:40 a.m.
and
Thursday, August 3
11a.m. -11:40 a.m.

Please join us in the Wickiup for PAWS Readathon, where you get to read to the dog! Husker, a beautiful trained therapy dog, likes to hear kids read all kinds of books.

Anyone who would like to read to Husker, must pre-register at the Youth Reference Desk.

Please remember to bring your favorite book to read. Children do not need to register if they want to watch the Readathon. This program is for children 7 to 12 years old.

Look at all you can win

School is almost out and summer is quickly approaching. The Summer Reading Program will be here soon! Children ages 0 to 12 will want to sign up to play the PAW Reading Game and earn prizes for reading. You’ll get a special book bag, bookmark, reading log, and a PAW Reading Game just for signing up! You can earn prizes like a tattoo, dog or cat stamper, bendable dog or cat, fish squirter, magnetic photo frame, and a mini bean bag animal. Finish the game and you’ll be entered into a drawing for the bigger prizes. You’ll have a chance to win a bowling pass, a free pizza, gift certificates, and even a bike! Don’t miss your chance to join in the fun! The Summer Reading Program begins on June 24.

The Summer Reading Program (SRP) for children will bound, crawl, slither, and hop into the library beginning on Saturday, June 24th! The program features an animal-themed reading game for children aged 0 to 12 that includes prizes for reading and chances to win big in our grand prize drawing.

The SRP also features the following special events during the summer months: PAWS Readathons (children can register to read to Husker, the trained therapy dog) on July 1 and August 3 from 11:00a.m. -11:40 p.m., a comedy, magic, and juggling show on June 24, from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m., a musical puppet show on July 8, from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. Children can also participate in animal storytimes and songs, an origami workshop, and bubble blowing adventures.
